Oris is a Swiss watchmaker founded in Hölstein in 1904 by Paul Cattin and Georges Christian, named after a local brook, known for producing high-quality, affordable mechanical watches, especially after diversifying into wristwatches in the 1920s and surviving the Quartz Crisis by focusing on innovation like automatic movements (Caliber 601 in 1952) and iconic models like the Big Crown (1938) and Divers Sixty-Five (1965), remaining an independent brand rooted in traditional watchmaking.
