About Glashütte Original
1845 when founders like Ferdinand Adolph Lange established watchmaking in Glashütte, Saxony, creating a prestigious German watchmaking tradition known for precision and craftsmanship (three-quarter plates, gold chatons). After state ownership during the communist era (merged into VEB Glashütter Uhrenbetriebe), the modern brand, Glashütte Original, emerged in 1994 post-reunification, inheriting this legacy. Since 2000, it's been part of the Swatch Group, blending historical techniques with modern innovation in iconic collections like Senator, Pano, and SeaQ.
